Uppsala
Uppsala is a city in eastern Sweden, north of Stockholm. Nearby Old Uppsala, with its royal burial mounds, was a centre of the pre-Christian kings of the Swedes and of a pagan temple described by Adam of Bremen. Uppsala became the seat of Sweden's archbishops in 1164, and its university, founded in 1477, is the oldest in Scandinavia. Its university library holds the Codex Argenteus.
