Subotica
Subotica is a city in northern Serbia, in the Bačka part of Vojvodina, close to the Hungarian border. In 1526–1527 the Serbian leader Jovan Nenad held his court there. It grew as a market town under the Habsburgs, became a royal free city in 1779, and its Art Nouveau town hall of the early 20th century reflects its prosperity in that era.
