Vojvodina

Vojvodina is an autonomous province of northern Serbia, covering Bačka, the Serbian part of the Banat and most of Srem, with its capital at Novi Sad. Long part of the Kingdom of Hungary and the Habsburg lands, it took its name from the Serbian Vojvodina proclaimed in 1848. It joined the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1918 and remains ethnically mixed, with a large Hungarian minority.
