Sumbawa

Sumbawa is an island in Indonesia's Lesser Sunda chain, between Lombok and Flores. It was divided among several small kingdoms and sultanates, including Sumbawa, Bima and Dompu, which had close ties with Makassar. The eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815, the largest in recorded history, destroyed the kingdoms of Tambora and Pekat on the island.
