Surat Thani
Surat Thani is a city in southern Thailand, capital of Surat Thani province, near the mouth of the Tapi river on the Bay of Bandon. Formerly known as Ban Don, it received its present name, meaning 'city of good people', from King Vajiravudh in 1915. The nearby district of Chaiya has temples and finds associated with Srivijaya, and the city is a gateway to Ko Samui.
