South China Sea
The South China Sea is a marginal sea of the Pacific bordered by southern China, mainland Southeast Asia, the Philippines and Borneo. It carried maritime trade between China and the Indian Ocean. Accounts of the Srivijaya Empire note that Srivijaya controlled shipping between the Indian Ocean and the South China Sea, and accounts of the Tang Dynasty discuss maritime commerce through it.
