Bay of Bengal

The Bay of Bengal is the north-eastern arm of the Indian Ocean, bordered by eastern India, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Malay Peninsula, with Sri Lanka at its south-western edge. The Ganges, Brahmaputra and Irrawaddy flow into it. Since ancient times its sea routes linked the ports of Kalinga, Bengal, Arakan and lower Burma with Southeast Asia.
