Bay of Biscay

The Bay of Biscay is the gulf of the Atlantic Ocean bounded by the west coast of France and the north coast of Spain, from Brittany to Galicia. Known for storms and heavy swells, it was an important fishing and whaling ground for Basque and Breton sailors. The Cantabrian coast along its southern shore was home to the Callaeci, Astures, Cantabri and Basques.
