Asturica Augusta
Asturica Augusta was the Roman town on the site of Astorga in north-western Spain, founded after Augustus' Cantabrian Wars in the land of the Astures. It became the administrative centre of the gold-mining district that included Las Médulas and an important road junction. It later belonged to the province of Gallaecia.
