Person
Surawisesa
Surawisesa was king of Sunda in western Java from 1521 to about 1535, the son and successor of Sri Baduga Maharaja. He sought Portuguese help against the rising Muslim sultanates, but Banten and the port of Sunda Kalapa fell to forces from Demak and Cirebon in the 1520s. He set up the Batutulis inscription of 1533 in honour of his father, and Sundanese tradition credits him with many battles in defence of the kingdom.
