Sunda Kelapa
Sunda Kelapa was the main port of the Hindu Sunda Kingdom of West Java, at the mouth of the Ciliwung river, exporting pepper. The Portuguese signed a treaty there in 1522, but in 1527 forces of Demak and Cirebon under Fatahillah captured it and renamed it Jayakarta. The Dutch rebuilt it as Batavia in 1619, the origin of modern Jakarta.
