Tajura

Also known as Tajoura

Tajura is a coastal town in Libya, just east of Tripoli. In the mid-16th century it served as a base for the Ottoman corsair Turgut Reis and other opponents of the Knights Hospitaller, who then held Tripoli. From there the Ottomans prepared the siege that took Tripoli from the knights in 1551.
