Tanka
The tanka was a silver coin introduced as standard currency in the Delhi Sultanate by Iltutmish in the early thirteenth century. It became the basis of the sultanate's monetary system and was later echoed in the rupee of subsequent Indian states. Accounts of the Delhi Sultanate list its introduction among the consolidating measures of Iltutmish's reign.
