Taolagnaro
Taolagnaro, also known as Fort-Dauphin, is a port town on the south-eastern tip of Madagascar, in the Anosy region. French settlers founded a fort there in 1643, naming it after the future Louis XIV, and it was the first French settlement on the island until its abandonment in 1674. It is now a regional capital and a centre of ilmenite mining.
