Tarafa
Tarafa ibn al-Abd was a pre-Islamic Arabian poet of the Bakr tribe, active in the mid-6th century, whose ode is one of the Mu'allaqat, the celebrated long poems of early Arabic literature. He spent time at the Lakhmid court of al-Hira under King Amr ibn Hind, and tradition says he was put to death in his twenties after satirising the king.
