Tarentaise Valley

The Tarentaise is the valley of the upper Isère in Savoie, south-eastern France, running from below the Little St Bernard Pass down to Albertville. In antiquity it was the land of the Ceutrones and formed the core of the Roman province of Alpes Graiae; its town of Darantasia, modern Moûtiers, became the seat of an archbishopric. Today it holds some of the largest ski areas in the world.
