Taunggyi
Taunggyi is the capital of Shan State in eastern Myanmar, set on the Shan Plateau at about 1,400 metres above sea level, near Inle Lake. Under British rule it was the seat of the superintendent and then commissioner of the Federated Shan States, and it grew into the main administrative and trading town of the region. It is known for its hot-air balloon festival held each November.
