Tavoliere delle Puglie
The Tavoliere delle Puglie is a broad plain in northern Apulia around the city of Foggia, the second largest plain in Italy after the Po valley. In antiquity it was the land of the Daunians, and in later centuries it was used mainly as winter pasture for flocks driven down from the Abruzzo mountains. Since the 20th century it has been one of Italy's chief wheat-growing areas.
