Thành Thái
Thành Thái was emperor of Vietnam of the Nguyễn dynasty from 1889 to 1907. He showed sympathy for reform and resentment of French control, and the French deposed him in 1907 on grounds of insanity, replacing him with his young son Duy Tân. He was exiled to Réunion with Duy Tân in 1916, returned to Vietnam in 1947 and died in Saigon.
