Thomas Preljubović

d. 1384 · 14th century

Thomas Preljubović was a Serbian nobleman who ruled Ioannina in Epirus from about 1367 until 1384, first as governor for the Serbian ruler Symeon Uroš and then as despot. His harsh rule and constant wars with the Albanian clans made him hated by the townspeople, and Greek sources call him a tyrant. He was murdered by his own guards in December 1384.
