Thutmose IV

r. c. 1400–1390 BCE · 14th century BCE

Thutmose IV was a pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of Egypt in the fourteenth century BCE. His reign saw the establishment of peaceful relations with the kingdom of Mitanni after earlier rivalry. Accounts of the Mitanni Empire note that Thutmose IV married a daughter of the Mitanni king Artatama I, a dynastic union that reinforced cross-cultural exchange and Mitanni's great-power status.
