Tlacatecatl
The tlacatecatl was one of the highest military offices in the Aztec Empire, a senior commander of the Mexica army. The empire was governed through regional tribute collectors and through the tlacatecatl and the tlacochcalcatl, who commanded the military. The office was usually held by a high-ranking noble, often a relative of the ruler.
