Tokugawa Hidetada
Tokugawa Hidetada was the second shogun of the Tokugawa Shogunate, the son and successor of Tokugawa Ieyasu. He succeeded his father as shogun in 1605 while Ieyasu continued to exercise power in retirement. His rule helped consolidate the new regime, and accounts of the Tokugawa Shogunate discuss him in the context of the dynasty's foundation and the orderly transfer of power within the Tokugawa house.
