Touba
Touba is a city in central Senegal, founded in 1887 by the Sufi leader Amadou Bamba in the former kingdom of Baol. It is the holy city of the Mouride brotherhood and the site of its Great Mosque, inaugurated in 1963, where Bamba is buried. Each year the Grand Magal pilgrimage brings vast numbers of visitors, and the city has grown into one of the largest in Senegal.
