Touraine
Touraine is a historic province of central France on the middle Loire, centred on the city of Tours. Contested in the 11th century between the counts of Blois and Anjou, it passed to Anjou in 1044 and formed part of the Angevin lands of the Plantagenets until Philip II of France took it in 1204–1205. Its Loire châteaux later made it a favourite residence of French kings.
