Tradiciones peruanas

1872 · 19th century

Tradiciones peruanas is a collection of several hundred short prose pieces by Ricardo Palma, published in series from 1872, mixing history, legend, anecdote and humour and mostly set in colonial Lima. Written in a lively, ironic style, they created a popular literary genre, the tradición, and shaped Peruvians' image of their viceregal past.
