Treaty of Seringapatam

1792 · 18th century · Part of the Third Anglo-Mysore War

The Treaty of Seringapatam was signed in March 1792 by Tipu Sultan of Mysore with the British East India Company and its allies, the Marathas and the Nizam of Hyderabad, ending the Third Anglo-Mysore War. With Cornwallis's army outside Srirangapatna, Tipu ceded about half of his territory, paid a heavy indemnity and handed over two of his sons as hostages.
