Tui Lau
Tui Lau is a Fijian chiefly title meaning paramount chief of the Lau Islands in eastern Fiji. It was recognised for the Tongan noble Enele Maʻafu, the dominant power in Lau, when Fiji was ceded to Britain in 1874. Since then it has been held by Fijian high chiefs, most notably Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara, the first prime minister of independent Fiji.
