UBS

1998 · 20th century · Also known as UBS Group

UBS is a Swiss bank formed in 1998 by the merger of the Union Bank of Switzerland and the Swiss Bank Corporation, and one of the world's largest wealth managers. During the financial crisis of 2008 it needed a federal rescue, and a United States investigation of its role in tax evasion helped end Swiss bank secrecy towards foreign tax authorities. In 2023 it took over its rival Credit Suisse.
