Credit Suisse
Credit Suisse was a Swiss bank founded in Zurich in 1856 by Alfred Escher, originally to finance railway building, and for long one of the country's two largest banks. After a series of losses and scandals, a loss of confidence in March 2023 led the Swiss authorities to arrange its emergency takeover by UBS, ending its existence as an independent bank.
