Ubii
The Ubii were a Germanic people who lived on the right bank of the Rhine and became allies of Rome under Julius Caesar. Under Augustus's general Agrippa they were resettled on the left bank, where their chief settlement, the Oppidum Ubiorum, became the Roman colony of Colonia Agrippina, modern Cologne, in 50 CE. They remained loyal to Rome during the Batavian revolt of 69–70.
