Uqaylid dynasty

c. 990–1096 · 10th century · Also known as Uqaylids

The Uqaylid dynasty was an Arab Shia dynasty of the Banu Uqayl that ruled Mosul and much of northern Iraq and the Jazira from about 990 to 1096. It rose as Buyid and Hamdanid power declined, and its emir Muslim ibn Quraysh extended its rule to Aleppo and Harran in the 1080s. The dynasty was eclipsed by the Seljuks at the end of the 11th century.
