Uromi

Uromi is a town in Edo State in southern Nigeria and one of the largest of the Esan chiefdoms, ruled by its own Onojie. Like other Esan chiefdoms it traced its ruling house to the Kingdom of Benin while largely running its own affairs. After the British conquest of Benin in 1897, Uromi resisted British occupation until 1901.
