8th century · 8th century

The Vaikuntha Perumal Temple is a Hindu temple to Vishnu in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, built by the Pallava king Nandivarman II in the eighth century. Its sanctuary has three storeys, each with an image of Vishnu, and the sculptured panels of its cloister are thought to show events of Pallava history, including Nandivarman's own election as king.
