Vailima
Vailima is the estate in the hills above Apia, Samoa, where the Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson lived from 1890 until his death in 1894. From there he wrote A Footnote to History (1892) and letters criticising the foreign powers' interference in Samoan affairs. The house later served as the residence of the German and New Zealand governors and of Samoa's head of state, and is now a museum.
