Valletta

Valletta is the capital of Malta, built on the Sciberras peninsula between two harbours. It was founded in 1566 by Grand Master Jean de Valette after the Ottoman Great Siege, as a fortified city for the Knights Hospitaller, and became their capital in 1571. Its Baroque churches, palaces and bastions made it a World Heritage Site in 1980.
