Valley of Elah
The Valley of Elah is a valley in the Judaean foothills, the Shephelah, of Israel, running west from the hills of Judah towards the coastal plain. According to the Bible, the Israelites under Saul faced the Philistines there when David killed Goliath. Fortified sites overlooking it include Azekah, Socoh and Khirbet Qeiyafa, and it formed a route between Philistine Gath and Judah.
