Vunivalu of Bau
The Vunivalu of Bau is the paramount chiefly title of Bau in Fiji, originally that of the war king, who shared authority with the senior sacred chief, the Roko Tui Bau. From the 18th century the Vunivalu came to hold real power, and under Tanoa Visawaqa and Seru Epenisa Cakobau the title made Bau the leading state in Fiji. Its holder heads the Kubuna confederacy.
