Kubuna Confederacy
Kubuna is one of the three traditional confederacies of Fiji, together with Burebasaga and Tovata. Headed by the Vunivalu of Bau, it is centred on the small island of Bau and the adjacent coast of Viti Levu. In the 19th century its chiefs, above all Seru Epenisa Cakobau, made Bau the strongest power in Fiji, and the confederacy remains a leading element of Fijian chiefly politics.
