Tanoa Visawaqa

d. 1852 · 19th century

Tanoa Visawaqa was the Vunivalu, or war king, of Bau in Fiji from the late 1820s until his death in 1852. Driven into exile by a revolt in the 1830s, he was restored with the help of his son Seru Epenisa Cakobau and extended Bau's dominance over much of eastern Fiji through war and tribute.
