Tano River
The Tano is a river of south-western Ghana, rising near Techiman and flowing about 400 kilometres south to the Aby lagoon on the border with Côte d'Ivoire. Sacred to the Akan, who revere its spirit as a deity, it gave its name to the Tano group of Akan languages. Its forested valley was settled by Akan states such as Aowin.
