Wadi al-Ajal
The Wadi al-Ajal is a valley in the Fezzan region of south-western Libya, and the heartland of the Garamantian Empire. The Garamantes irrigated it through a foggara network of underground canals. It notes that the network eventually comprised over 530 canals in the Wadi al-Ajal alone, delivering water to fields of wheat, barley and dates.
