Waikato-Tainui
Waikato-Tainui is a confederation of Māori iwi of the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island, descended from those who arrived on the Tainui canoe. It led the Kīngitanga, the Māori King Movement, from 1858, and lost much of its land in confiscations after the invasion of the Waikato in 1863. Its settlement with the Crown in 1995 included an apology and the return of land.
