Wat Suan Dok

1371 · 14th century

Wat Suan Dok is a Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai, Thailand, built around 1371 by King Kue Na in his flower garden for the monk Sumana, who founded there a monastic lineage derived from Sri Lanka. Its great bell-shaped chedi is said to hold a relic of the Buddha, and white memorial chedis contain the ashes of Chiang Mai's ruling family.
