Wolfenbüttel

Wolfenbüttel is a town in Lower Saxony, Germany, on the Oker south of Brunswick. From the 15th century until 1753 it was the residence of the dukes of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, who built a large palace and the Herzog August Library, one of the most renowned early modern libraries in Europe. Gotthold Ephraim Lessing worked there as librarian from 1770.
