Yazoo River

The Yazoo River flows about 300 km through western Mississippi, United States, to join the Mississippi River just north of Vicksburg. In 1764 the latitude of its mouth was used to fix the northern boundary of British West Florida. Its name was later attached to the Yazoo land scandal of 1795, a fraudulent sale of western lands by the Georgia legislature.
