Year-name
A year-name was a dating formula used in early Mesopotamia, in which each year was named after a notable event of the previous year, such as a military victory or the building of a temple. Accounts of the Babylonian Empire note that Hammurabi's year-names, attached by scribes to administrative documents, provide a chronicle of his military campaigns.
