Yoshida-Kōriyama Castle
Yoshida-Kōriyama Castle was a mountain castle in Aki province, now in Akitakata in Hiroshima Prefecture, the home base of the Mōri clan. Mōri Motonari successfully defended it against a large Amago army in 1540–1541, a victory that began his rise to power over western Japan. It was abandoned after his grandson Terumoto moved to Hiroshima Castle in 1591, and its extensive earthworks survive as a national historic site.
