Yusuf ibn al-Hasan
Yusuf bin Hasan was a sultan of Mombasa, son of the ruler installed by the Portuguese, who was raised in Goa as a Christian under the name Dom Jerónimo Chingulia. Returning as sultan, he reverted to Islam and on 15 August 1631 killed the Portuguese garrison and residents of Fort Jesus. He abandoned the town before a Portuguese relief force arrived in 1632 and continued raiding until his death in 1637.
