Banka-Pahari State

1800 CE – 1950 CE (approx.) · capital Banka Pahari

A very small chiefship of the Bundelkhand Agency, known almost only from British lists of the minor states of central India.

Origins

Banka-Pahari was confirmed as a separate holding by the British in the early 19th century, as one of several small estates left from the break-up of Bundela power.

Rule and society

It comprised only a handful of villages under a hereditary chief. Nothing else of note is recorded in standard sources.

Decline and legacy

After independence Banka-Pahari was merged into Vindhya Pradesh with the other Bundelkhand states and absorbed by 1950.

Few sources survive for this state; details are uncertain.
